3 Idiots is a Bollywood comedy film released in 2009, adapted from the novel
Five Point Someone by an Indian author, Chetan Bhagat. If you love Bollywood films or you just love anything comedy, 3 Idiots is surely a hit for you. The film has broken all box office records in India and has become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time in India. In overseas markets such as in US and Europe, it has become the overall second highest grossing film.3 Idiots is a story of three college engineering students Rancho, Farhan and Raju who are roommates and become the best of friends. Their archenemies are their professor who the entire college calls ViruS (short for Viru Sahastrebuddhe) and ViruS' favorite student, Chatur who they call the "Silencer". Rancho as the lead character challenges ViruS' way of teaching and the entire education system while his two buddies just do what the teacher says because they are afraid to disappoint their not so well-off families who will likely depend on them when they become engineers. Rancho on the other hand comes from a rich family thus they think he can afford to flunk college and not study during exams.
The language used in the film is Hindi as it is a Bollywood film but good news for you because you can watch the entire film on YouTube with English subtitles. It is legally released on the said site and is downloadable.
This movie is surely a must-watch. Very entertaining, very funny, very witty but at the same time very touching and conveys a serious message about following your dreams and living your passion.
Trivia: The lead actor Aamir Khan has a striking resemblance with Jude Law (The Holiday, Closer, Alfie).
